Approximately 125 prospective students and parents gathered at two receptions recently to learn about becoming a Texas Tiger at LSU.  “LSU on the GEAUX” brings LSU representatives from various departments on campus, and they, along with area alumni, visit with students and parents, telling them about admissions, scholarship opportunities, housing, along with information about any of the 235 academic fields of study at LSU.

High school juniors and seniors were invited along with their parents.  The receptions were held Monday, February 24, 2014 in Euless at the home of Linda & Ron Young and Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at the home of Phyllis & Ron Carver in Allen.  Besides sampling some delicious Cajun cuisine (jambalaya, red beans & rice, and gumbo), the students got to experience authentic Louisiana King Cake (compliments of the LSU group from Baton Rouge.

Guest Speaker was Dr. Dave Kurplus, Associate Vice Chancellor of Undergraduate Admissions, who spoke about the many good things going on at LSU.  He encouraged all attendees to take a campus visit.

Thank you to the various campus reps who came, and to Pedro Cobos (our resident LSU recruiter) for coming to share the many opportunities that LSU has to offer.  The students and parents all seemed to appreciate getting to visit face to face with LSU reps and get their many questions answered.  A special THANK YOU to the Youngs and the Carvers for hosting the events.
