LSU’s class of 2022 had a record number of students from the DFW and surrounding areas who headed to Baton Rouge last fall – 145 students, and 37% of those received some type of scholarship offer, totaling $732,000! Our Dallas and Tarrant Tigers showed up “big time” to welcome the Future Texas Tigers to the LSU Family! The 2018 send-off parties were held on July 19 at Linda & Ron Young’s home in Euless and on Sunday afternoon, July 22 at Laura Stockdale’s home in Dallas. Between the two parties, we had more than 120 kids, parents and alumni to attend. Some students attended both parties, and one family drove up twice from Waco! It didn’t take the kids long to start exchanging cell phone numbers, and as always, the parents enjoyed visiting with one another and alumni. They were reassured that their kids would be taken care of as they headed to Tiger Country.
Both parties featured some “lagniappe” – the chapters added a drawing for a one time $250 scholarship at each party. Tattiyanna Peters from Duncanville HS and Sophia Chlebos from McKinney North HS were the winners.
The students left with all kinds of “LSU Swag” (provided by the Dallas and Tarrant Tiger chapters, LSU Alumni Association, LSU Family Association, and sponsor, Tiger People) in their goodie bags, and LSU yard signs. LSU recruiters, Pedro Cobos and Justin Jones, were on hand to help welcome the Class of 2022, and both say the summer send-offs are the culmination of their hard work all year.
