To LSU Alums and Friends:

Welcome to 2017!  The LSU Alumni Association Dallas Chapter is starting a new year.  We will be expanding our events to include all ages and families.  We are continuing the Crawfish Boil and game watching parties.  In addition, other types of events will be added for all our LSU fans with various interests.  We want all to have some Tiger fun and meet fellow Tigers.

Crawfish Boil – We will be throwing our annual Crawfish Boil on Saturday, April 22nd at Sundown at Granada on Lower Greenville.  This venue offers lots of open air interior and outside seating.  Cajun Crawfish Company returns to cook the hot, juicy Louisiana crawfish.  Big Daddie the DJ will be back playing the music.  We will have a mechanical bull set up for all to ride (a prize will be given to the longest rider).  Along with crawfish there will be additional choices of non-crawfish items.  We listened when you requested more outdoor activities, less of a bar atmosphere, and closer to town.  We think we have found a good solution.   More information will be coming soon.  If you would like to help with the crawfish boil please send an email to Kyle at

Blessing of the Balls – We have done this event for the past few years and everyone wants us to continue this fun family event.   We will return to Big Game and sign the inside of the LSU game balls  – date to be determined.

RoughRiders – Last year we introduced LSU Night at the RoughRiders ballpark, where we surprised Alex Bregman with LSU fans in the stands.  We had such a great response that we plan to have it again.  Our target date is May 5 (hopefully it won’t be so hot).  While enjoying the game, during the first hour and half, you can enjoy hot dogs, brats, popcorn, and Dr Pepper products.  Come and celebrate Cinco de Mayo with crazy Tiger fans.

We have added a Networking Happy Hour which is held every month at a different Dallas location.  We have had many requests to hold a monthly gathering and this event allows Tigers to network and discuss career opportunities.   Be sure to bring your business cards.   If you have a suggestion on a location that would like to host our happy hour, please send an email to Chris at

Along the same lines, we will be announcing our very first Quarterly Luncheon with a guest speaker.  We are finalizing details for the first luncheon which will be held the beginning of March.  Watch for information very soon.  If you have any connections for a potential LSU Alum speaker (athlete, coach, own their own company, successful in business) please contact Chris at

We have renewed our partnership with the Dallas SEC Group and will be promoting their activities and networking events where we can mingle with the other local SEC alumni groups.  We are assisting the SEC Group with a MARDI GRAS PARTY to be held on Tuesday, February 28th.  Details coming soon.

LSU A Capella Choir will be performing at Allen High School the evening of Tuesday, February 28.  The music starts at 7:00pm and our chapter will host a reception immediately afterwards, where you can greet these talented students and show them a big Dallas welcome.  More details forthcoming.

Chapter Sponsors – With additional events on the calendar, our chapter sponsors will have more opportunities to promote their products and services.  We value you and we want to know what would benefit you in becoming a Sponsor of the LSU Alumni Dallas chapter.  Some of the current benefits:

  • We are a 501c3 – your donation is tax deductible
  • Your name is on our website
  • Your name is displayed at all events
  • Other benefits are offered depending on the different levels of sponsorship

We are currently looking for a Sponsorship Chairman.  If you would be interested, please contact

We invite you to share you thoughts.  We want to be a good partner and we need your input to make it work advantageously for both.  Our chapter needs sponsors to help provide events and scholarships for students in the DFW area.

Membership – In the last few years our membership structure has changed to a national membership in coordination with LSU Alumni Association based out of Baton Rouge.  When you join at the national level, you also establish your membership with our local chapter.   A national membership costs $50, of that $30 stays with national and $20 comes back to our Dallas chapter.  As a joint member you receive all the benefits of national and local membership:

  • Entry to the PMAC Tailgate party before all home games
  • LSU Alumni Quarterly Magazine and E-newsletters
  • Discounts to:   Dallas Chapter Events, The Cook Hotel, The LSU Alumni Gift Shop in the Cook Hotel Lobby, Choice Hotels International, Major Car Rental Agencies, Home & Auto Insurance

If you have any questions about membership, please reach out to Allison at

As President of the LSU Alumni Association Dallas Chapter, I would like to hear from each of you.  The Board of Directors wants to know what we can do to get you and your family more involved and excited about being a part of LSUDallas.

Some suggestions that members have presented are:

  • Wine tasting bus trip in the Dallas area.  There are over 40 small wineries in the DFW area – who knew !!
  • Bus trip to a LSU baseball game (Houston tournament or when the Tigers play A&M)
  • Day at the lake or arboretum

Please share YOUR thoughts.  We want to make the LSU Alumni Dallas chapter “YOUR CHAPTER”.  Send in your suggestions and comments about activities, sponsorship, and membership.

We look forward to hearing from you.   Let’s make this a great Tiger New Year!

Geaux Tigers!

Harriet Robinette

President, LSU Alumni Association Dallas Chapter
