I graduated from Justin Wakeland High School in Frisco, Texas. In high school, I was heavily involved in my school’s theatre program and was the assistant director for my sophomore, junior, and senior years. This led to me becoming a member of the International Thespian Society where I earned the title of Honor Thespian for gaining more than 500 hours of work in the theatre department as well as receiving the President’s List Scholar for maintaining a 4.0 for the school year. Outside of theatre I help found the Wakeland Multicultural Club where I was an active leader for my junior and senior years. My other major activity was my involvement in my school district’s career center’s veterinary medicine program where I was able to intern at a local veterinary hospital and gain enough hours of clinical and classroom experience to take the Texas Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA) exam (which I luckily passed!). I am currently majoring in Animal Science with a Pre-Veterinary Medicine concentration. I am currently a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Women’s Fraternity, a future member of the LSU Pre-Vet Club, and currently helping to start the LSU chapter of Cultivating Change, an LGBTQ+ organization focused on agriculture-based majors. I chose LSU out of the blue due to my high school chemistry teacher talking about how much her daughter enjoyed the veterinary program. I applied and planned to go visit if accepted but covid had a different idea. While I ended up choosing LSU blind, I would make that decision again a thousand times over as I fell in love with the campus and the people in Baton Rouge.
Thank you for such an amazing scholarship and I’m sorry it took a little while for me to get back to you, school has been a little hectic as we approach finals. Please let me know if there is anything else you need from me!
