LSU-Tulane kickoff is Saturday at 7 PM only on TigerVision! When Auburn and our LSU Tigers faced off against each other last Saturday night, the call went out: "Will the real Tigers please stand up?" And yes, our LSU Tigers not only stood their ground but they played the most complete game of the season winning going away. And for all of us who wanted to see a more open offense to go with our increasingly impressive defense, we got our wish.
As was quoted last week, we control our own destiny. But first, take them one game at a time. Next up is Tulane in what used to be a favorite end of year romp. (Several of us in our Dallas Chapter were in school when we put over 60 points on Tulane by teams which by todays standards were not as strong offensively.) While we're not predicting a romp as the point spread may lead you to believe, our Tigers are sharpening their claws each week as they strive for the "Rematch in the Dome" in Dec.
And only TigerVision will carry the game this Saturday. So plan to quit scanning the channels of your cable or satellite provider and join with us at Fox & Hound and Sherlock's as we turn back the green wave in a bowl qualifying victory. Plan to be there by 6:30 and mix with alums and fans that some of us have never spent time with before. New transplants are arriving in Dallas weekly and our two watch locations are the place to be on Saturday evening.
Speaking of new alumni, one who had been in Dallas for 4 years was at one of our watch locations last Sat. and this was his first game watching with us. At the same location, a couple renewed their membership although they are relocating to Ohio. And yet another U. of Houston grad purchased an SEC shirt for an LSU alum friend and said that he wanted to be on our email list if nothing else than to know about our crawfish boil in April. None of this would have happened if they had all three stayed home to watch the game.
Our thanks go to all who have increased our membership this year by joining or renewing. You have helped us in achieving our goal as the fastest growing chapter outside LA. When we began our membership drive in Jan. 2007, our objective was to connect to as many new and existing alum and fans in Dallas and surrounding areas. Each year we have increased our memberships till we now number 615 members of which 151 are new this year alone. (As a point of reference, we concluded 2006 with 156 paid members.) But not all of our 615 members have remitted their annual dues of $25. If you are one of them, please take the time to complete the membeship application on our website, www.lsualumnidallas.com, (existing members need only fill in name and email if data on file is accurate and complete payment with PayPal on line.) Know that your support allows us to invest in the future of DFW students through our Top 100 Scholarships with LSUAA as 80% of your dues are applied to these scholarships just as all proceeds from the sale of the Texas Tiger Tees. To order on line, go to the icon on our home page for the shopping cart.
Don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour on Sunday morning and make a note on your Nov. calender that the Nov. 7th game with alabama (purposely uncapitalized) has a 2:30 PM kickoff. All three locations will be carrying that game and more info coming in our next weekly update.
Cya Saturday. Geaux Tigers! |
