Membership Update - 4/22/09
WOW!!! A new record by 20% from our 2008 high! Over 750 of us enjoyed 3700# of crawfish, 90 servings of Jambalaya and 30 kegs of beer last Saturday. About $1,000 in Texas Tiger tee shirt sales and $5,700 from silent auction proceeds will go straight to our scholarship fund. (Speaking of the silent auction, we appreciate the interest that everyone exhibited regarding the pair of game tickets for each home game and plan to continue that tradition annually. One of the bid sheets that is missing from our auction was the one for the UL-L game. If you picked up the sheet by accident, please contact us so that we can get the information of where to mail the tickets.)
Rain or shine, our 30th Annual Crawfish Boil is on! One of the selection features of Double D Ranch was the pavillion that was large enough to house all of those who purchased tickets to tomorrow's CB. So come on down!
We did it! I knew I could count on you! When we received Jeff Parnell's membership application along with dues payment, he not only became the 36th new member of our Dallas Chapter since 1/1 but his also became the 75th membership received this year. With the $20 per membership that we contribute to scholarships, this has allowed us to complete the endowment of our 3rd DFW Scholarship at LSU. This means that we now have $120,000 in scholarships working to insure that highly qualified students from the DFW area have an opportunity to experience LSU and gain an education from one of the top tier 1 universities in this area. Can you see why your memberships are important to us? Not from an income standpoint but rather an investment in the future of our fellow alums!
30 Days to Geaux! That's how many left before we enjoy our 30th Annual Crawfish Boil, the largest and soon to be the best CB we have ever enjoyed. You don't want to miss it! Many tables have been ordered since our last update and we are even to ahead of last year's record turnout. If you haven't done so, please get your orders in on a timely fashion so that we can better prepare in ordering supplies and food.
Kill 2 birds this coming Saturday- enjoy the monthly SEC Alumni Chapter Mixers and see the two Semifinals of the SEC Basketball Tournament at the same time! The Univ of Arkansas will be hosting our March (Madness) Mixer at their watch location, Jerseyville Classic in the Shops of Willow Bend Mall, 6121 W Park Blvd (at the NW corner of the Tollway and Park Blvd.) in Plano. Tip off for the first game is 12 noon and the second game is 2:15. Since LSU will be playing Kentucky on Friday in the early game, they should be playing in the first of the 2 semifinal contests. Come early and plan to stay through both games. It's a great way to enjoy SEC pride with other SEC chapters.
